Specialist 1:1 and small group education for young people aged 11–16. SEND-specialist, neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed. Built entirely around the individual.
Every Alma tutor is a qualified teacher, enhanced DBS checked, fully insured and trained in safeguarding in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025. Families, schools and local authorities can place their trust in us with confidence. Full policy documentation is available on request.
Alma Education works with young people aged 11–16 who need education that genuinely fits them. We spend time finding out what each young person is passionate about — and build their learning from there. Every session is led by a qualified teacher and shaped entirely around the individual.
Sessions are small and unhurried. We work 1:1 and in small groups at Alma Hubs — community venues across Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales — and online. Calm settings, no pressure, no rushing.
We work with families directly and alongside schools and local authorities. We are taking referrals now. When young people feel seen and supported, the results can be extraordinary.
Sessions are shaped entirely around each young person — their interests, their pace, their goals. English and Maths run through everything. We build real digital skills, encourage creativity and hands-on learning, and help young people develop a genuine love of learning they'll carry with them for life.
Finding what genuinely excites them — and using that as the way back into learning.
Reading, writing, communication and numeracy in real, relevant contexts.
Targeted, structured support for young people working toward qualifications.
Creating, designing and making — digital skills and creative thinking woven through everything.
Science, humanities and more — active, hands-on learning led by the young person's interests.
Self-esteem, resilience and confidence built through every session.
Melanie is a qualified secondary school teacher with extensive experience working with young people who learn differently. She founded Alma Education with a clear belief: every young person has the potential to achieve something extraordinary — they just need education that starts with who they are.
Cathryn is an experienced safeguarding and trauma-informed practice consultant who works alongside Alma Education to ensure our provision is safe, considered and genuinely responsive to the needs of vulnerable young people. Her expertise shapes the way we work at every level.
Alma Education offers commissioned provision for schools and local authorities supporting young people who cannot currently access mainstream education. We are taking referrals now.
Young people finding mainstream difficult — through anxiety, unmet needs or simply needing a completely different approach.
Students on EOTAS packages or at risk of long-term absence. Qualified, safeguarded provision that meets LA requirements.
Families who want qualified, expert sessions to lead or support their young person's learning journey.
ADHD, autism, dyslexia, SEMH and more — with or without a formal identification. We teach based on need, not diagnosis.
We are currently taking enquiries from families, schools and local authorities. No obligation — just a straightforward conversation about what your young person needs.
We're interested in qualified teachers who lead with relationships, are passionate about young people the mainstream system misses, and understand that safeguarding is non-negotiable. All appointments require an enhanced DBS, satisfactory references and safeguarding training before starting.
